The United Kingdom has pledged limited military assistance to Saudi Arabia in response to escalating Houthi attacks, Prime Minister Andy Burnham confirmed ahead of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Mr Burnham announced that the Royal Air Force (RAF) will provide air‑to‑air refuelling support for Saudi fighter jets, strengthening Riyadh’s ability to repel strikes by Iran‑backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Britain has strongly condemned the attacks, stressing that it will continue to work with partners to support regional stability, protect civilians, and ensure humanitarian access.

The move underscores the UK’s commitment to safeguarding Gulf security while balancing its role in international diplomacy. Analysts note that aerial refuelling support enhances Saudi Arabia’s operational endurance, allowing its aircraft to remain in the skies longer during defensive missions.
