Bihar minister and local MLA Shreyasi Singh has clarified her controversial remarks on moral policing, which sparked outrage following the Jamui incident.

In a viral clip from an interview on Monday, Singh was heard saying that moral policing could be done in a more “decent” and “elegant fashion.” The comments drew sharp criticism from the Opposition, with the Leader of Opposition quipping that the MLA should give “tuition on moral policing.”

Responding to the backlash, Singh told The Indian Express that her remarks were taken out of context. “It is unfortunate that certain remarks are being selectively presented and taken out of context,” she said, adding that the viral clip was part of a longer interview conducted during an official meeting.

The controversy has reignited debate around moral policing, individual freedoms, and political accountability in Bihar, with Singh’s clarification aiming to defuse tensions while maintaining her stance that her words were misinterpreted.
