India’s athletes have delivered inspiring performances at the Asian Games 2026, securing seven medals so far and placing the country in 8th position on the medal tally, led by powerhouse China.
The highlight came when the Indian Women’s Cricket Team clinched a historic gold medal, their first at the Asian Games, after a commanding win over Sri Lanka at the Karogi Athletic Park in Nisshin, Aichi.
In shooting, India’s men’s 10m rifle team — Himanshu Dhillon, Rudrankksh Patil, and Parth Rakesh Mane — won silver, while the women’s 10m air rifle team featuring Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar, and Vidarsa Vinod also bagged silver.
India’s medal tally further grew with podium finishes in Mixed Martial Arts, where Suchika Tariyal made history by winning a bronze medal, marking India’s first in the sport at the Games.
These achievements reflect India’s growing strength across disciplines, from cricket to shooting and combat sports, with athletes showcasing resilience and skill on the continental stage.
