The G7 nations have strongly condemned recent Houthi strikes on Saudi Arabia, voicing solidarity with Riyadh and warning of escalating threats to West Asia’s stability and global trade routes.

In a joint statement, the leaders urged Iran to end its arming and support for the Houthis, stressing that continued offensives risk destabilising the region and driving up global energy prices.

The condemnation comes as the Houthi movement launched a lightning offensive, seizing control of Yemen’s entire Red Sea coast, including Mokha, a strategic hub for international shipping. Their gains have tightened Iran’s influence over two critical waterways — the Bab al‑Mandeb Strait and the Strait of Hormuz — both vital for Saudi Arabia and Gulf nations to export crude oil.

The strikes have already rattled energy markets, adding pressure on global supply chains and raising fears of further disruptions. Analysts warn that unchecked escalation could deepen the ongoing West Asia conflict and trigger wider geopolitical consequences.
