External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar held a series of high‑level meetings with his counterparts from France, Ecuador, Slovakia, and Switzerland on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly.

Jaishankar’s engagements began with French Foreign Minister Jean‑Noel Barrot, where discussions focused on the Ukraine and Gulf crises, alongside UN Security Council reforms. He noted that regular exchanges help sustain the momentum of the India‑France Special Global Strategic Partnership.

With Ecuador’s Foreign Minister Roberto Kury, talks centered on strengthening economic ties, including energy, pharmaceuticals, mobility, training, and development partnerships, while reinforcing cooperation in multilateral fora.

Meeting Slovakia’s Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar, Jaishankar discussed bilateral priorities and ways to deepen multilateral collaboration. He also met Switzerland’s Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis, reviewing progress in economic relations following the entry into force of the India‑EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement.

Additionally, Jaishankar engaged with Hungary’s Deputy PM Anita Orban and Nauru President David Adeang, reaffirming India’s commitment to expanding partnerships across regions.

These meetings highlight India’s proactive diplomacy at the UNGA, strengthening ties with diverse nations while advancing global cooperation and reforms.
