External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar participated in the first V4+India Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. The meeting brought together the Foreign Ministers of Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, under the Slovak Presidency of the Visegrad Group (V4).

The Ministers discussed ways to deepen engagement between India and the V4 countries, acknowledging strong bilateral ties and the potential of the new format to add momentum to cooperation. Key areas of focus included trade and investment, technology and innovation, resilient supply chains, defence and security, connectivity, education, and people‑to‑people exchanges.

They also explored opportunities for greater collaboration among businesses, academic institutions, and research bodies, while exchanging perspectives on global and regional developments, peace and security, and multilateral reforms. The discussions highlighted the importance of addressing challenges faced by the Global South and advancing reformed multilateralism.

The inaugural meeting marks a significant step in building structured engagement between India and the Visegrad Group, offering an additional platform for dialogue and cooperation across Central Europe.
