The Indian High Commission in Malaysia has issued a strong advisory warning nationals against seeking employment while travelling on tourist visas.

Officials noted a rising trend of Indians arriving in Malaysia using the 30‑day visa‑free facility to pursue jobs, often misled by unscrupulous agents with false promises. This has led to cases of overstay, illegal status, exploitation, detention, and legal action.

The advisory stressed that visa‑free entry is strictly for tourism and social visits, not employment. Violating immigration rules can result in severe consequences.

To avoid trouble, genuine tourists must carry valid documentation, including a confirmed return ticket, hotel booking, a passport with at least six months’ validity, and submission of the Malaysian Digital Arrival Card three days before travel.

The High Commission urged Indian nationals to remain vigilant, avoid fraudulent job offers, and respect immigration laws to ensure safe and lawful travel.
