Aishwarya said she was uncomfortable with photographs she shared online being used as backgrounds or source material for AI-generated edits. She eventually decided to take a break from Instagram, despite objections from her management team.

The actor acknowledged that leaving the platform has not stopped such content from circulating online. However, stepping away has helped her avoid repeatedly encountering material she finds distressing.

Explaining her decision, Aishwarya said she felt she could not control the circulation of AI-generated edits. At the time, she had reached a point where she no longer wanted to see more of the content and chose to distance herself from the platform rather than contribute further to the online attention surrounding it.

Her experience highlights wider concerns about the use of artificial intelligence to manipulate celebrities’ photographs without their consent. Female actors have increasingly spoken about the discomfort and challenges associated with AI-generated imagery, raising questions about digital consent, privacy and responsible technology use.

Aishwarya’s decision also reflects how social media, while offering actors a direct connection with fans, can expose them to the misuse of personal images. For now, she has not indicated when she might return to Instagram.
