Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke left Mumbai for New Delhi on Saturday, October 10, to stage a protest at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Before boarding his flight, Dipke claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had “accepted defeat” even before the agitation began.

In a post on X, Dipke described the reported shutdown of parts of Delhi and the crackdown on supporters as signs of fear, not strength. He said the government was “scared” of its own people, as restrictions and train cancellations affected those seeking to join the protest.

The CJP founder made the remarks at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, where he addressed the media before departing for the national capital. The planned demonstration, described by the party as “Jantar Mantar 2.0,” is aimed at the Chief Election Commissioner.

Dipke’s comments come amid reports of heightened security measures and disruption to travel linked to the protest. He has portrayed the restrictions as an attempt to deter supporters from gathering, while asserting that the planned agitation would go ahead.

The protest is expected to draw attention to the party’s demands and its criticism of the Election Commission. However, the claims about the government’s intentions and the scale of the clampdown were made by Dipke; no independent confirmation was included in the report.

The demonstration adds to political tensions around the CJP’s campaign. Dipke’s remarks have also set a confrontational tone ahead of the gathering, framing the protest as a test of public dissent and the authorities’ response in Delhi.
