The mischievous feline from Dr. Seuss’s beloved children’s book is returning to the big screen in a new animated adventure from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation.
The upcoming film reimagines The Cat in the Hat, bringing back the iconic character known for his tall hat, playful rhymes and talent for turning ordinary situations into chaos.
A New Story Inspired by Dr. Seuss
The film is directed by Alessandro Carloni, known for Kung Fu Panda 3, and Erica Rivinoja, whose writing credits include Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 and The Addams Family.
The story introduces the Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration, LLC (IIII), which sends the Cat to help siblings Gabby and Sebastian adjust to life after moving to a new town.
The new adventure expands the original children’s book into a feature-length story while retaining the imaginative humour and playful spirit associated with Dr. Seuss.
Continuing Dr. Seuss’s Hollywood Legacy
Dr. Seuss, the pen name of American author and illustrator Theodor Seuss Geisel, has inspired several animated adaptations, including The Lorax, Horton Hears a Who! and The Grinch.
With its colourful characters and imaginative storytelling, the new The Cat in the Hat aims to bring the classic literary figure to another generation of viewers.
