OpenAI is preparing to preview GPT-6 Cyber, a new artificial intelligence model focused specifically on cybersecurity, according to a report citing people familiar with the company’s plans. The model could be introduced within the coming weeks, along with a new product designed to help customers deploy it more securely and automatically.
GPT-6 Cyber is expected to target cybersecurity use cases, including automated workflows and vulnerability management. The accompanying product is reportedly intended to give customers greater control over how the model is deployed while helping monitor its use for safety.
A limited group of customers is already testing GPT-6 Cyber through OpenAI’s application-based cybersecurity programme, according to the report. The company has increasingly focused on enterprise cybersecurity products as AI systems become more capable of handling complex technical tasks.
The planned release comes amid growing attention on the security risks associated with advanced AI agents. Recent incidents involving AI systems interacting with external websites have raised questions about safeguards, monitoring and how models behave outside controlled testing environments.
OpenAI has also been developing a series of cybersecurity-focused models, with GPT-6 Cyber expected to follow earlier releases in the company’s cyber-model lineup. The company is expected to unveil several other products at its annual developer event scheduled for September 29.
OpenAI did not immediately comment on the reported GPT-6 Cyber launch plans. The timing and final product details could therefore change before the official announcement.
