Jaishankar, who arrived in Ghana on the first leg of his three‑nation African tour, said the discussions were “wide‑ranging,” covering India’s growing engagement with the African Union and ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States). The talks highlighted shared priorities in regional stability, trade, and development partnerships.

The Indian minister also met Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama, where both leaders acknowledged the strong momentum in bilateral ties. India has been expanding its footprint in Africa through investments in technology, healthcare, education, and infrastructure, while Ghana has emerged as a key partner in West Africa.

Officials noted that the visit underscores India’s broader strategy of building stronger alliances across Africa, positioning itself as a reliable partner in multilateral forums. The collaboration is expected to enhance connectivity, economic growth, and collective representation in global decision‑making platforms.

Jaishankar’s African tour is seen as part of India’s effort to strengthen South‑South cooperation and reinforce its role as a bridge between developing nations and global institutions.
