India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel believes the upcoming five‑match T20I series against West Indies offers the perfect platform to nurture the next generation of Indian cricketers while maintaining team stability.

Speaking ahead of the opener at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Morkel emphasized the importance of striking a balance between continuity and giving youngsters exposure. “It will be great for Indian cricket if we keep growing that pool, keep giving guys experience and the taste of what it is to play in an Indian shirt,” he said.

On the development of young pacer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Morkel noted that even if the 21‑year‑old does not make the playing XI, being around the squad would be invaluable for his growth. “Being part of the environment itself is a learning curve,” he added.

India enters the series fresh off an Asian Games gold medal win, with coach Shreyas Iyer’s men looking to balance workload management and performance. The West Indies, bolstered by the return of Hetmyer, Powell, Shepherd, and Hosein, promise a stern challenge in the shortest format.

For Morkel, the series is not just about winning but also about preparing India’s bench strength for future tournaments.
