Nani-starrer The Paradise has received an interim legal reprieve days before its scheduled release, with a Bengaluru court restraining the circulation of specific content that the film’s makers allege is defamatory.

The Additional City Civil and Sessions Judge, Bengaluru, passed an ex-parte interim injunction on September 19 following a petition filed by Sri Lakshmi Venkateshwara Cinemas LLP, the production company behind the film.

According to the petition, the makers sought protection against the circulation of content they claim contains defamatory material concerning The Paradise. The producers have also sought a permanent and mandatory injunction against the defendants.

The legal proceedings come as the film approaches its release, with the production house highlighting the substantial investment made in the movie’s production, marketing and distribution.

The court’s interim order restricts the circulation of the specified material while the broader legal proceedings continue. The allegations contained in the petition have not been established as final findings by the court.

Directed by Srikanth Odela, The Paradise stars Nani in the lead role and has generated considerable interest ahead of its theatrical release.
