Indian soft tennis player Jay Meena etched his name in history by winning India’s first‑ever medal in soft tennis at the Asian Games 2026, securing a bronze in the men’s singles event.

Playing in his third Asian Games, the 26‑year‑old Meena showcased grit and determination against Japan’s Takuya Kurosaka in the semifinals. Despite falling three games behind, Meena mounted a spirited fightback, winning two games before eventually going down 2‑4 in a 45‑minute clash.

Meena, who also competed in the 2018 and 2022 editions, finally achieved a breakthrough moment for India in the sport, marking a milestone in the country’s expanding presence at the Games. His achievement adds to India’s growing medal tally in Nagoya and highlights the potential of soft tennis as a discipline where India can shine in the future.
