U.S. President Donald Trump has voiced strong support for the India‑Middle East‑Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC), calling it a vital initiative to secure global energy and trade routes.

Speaking at a multilateral meeting with the Gulf Cooperation Council on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Trump said repeated terrorist attacks by Iran on commercial shipping in West Asia highlight the urgent need to shift energy infrastructure away from Iranian checkpoints.

He stressed that IMEEC represents a strategic alternative, linking India, the Middle East, and Europe through modern infrastructure, trade, and energy networks. Trump’s remarks underline Washington’s commitment to backing projects that reduce dependency on unstable chokepoints and strengthen global supply chains.

The corridor, announced earlier this year, is seen as a counterbalance to regional disruptions and a step toward greater economic integration across Asia and Europe. Trump’s endorsement adds weight to India’s push for the initiative, which could reshape connectivity and commerce in the region.
