India has strongly rejected references to Kashmir made in the Joint Communique of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir, declaring them politically motivated and without legitimacy.

Responding to the statement issued by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the grouping has “no locus standi” to comment on matters strictly internal to India.

“The entire Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inalienable parts of India, and no amount of repetition of politically motivated propaganda can change this reality,” the MEA asserted.

The OIC Contact Group — comprising Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye — met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session on September 22. India criticised the endorsement of such narratives, saying they raise serious questions about the credibility of OIC.

India’s response underscores its consistent position that external organisations cannot dictate or influence its sovereignty over Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
