Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has spotlighted India’s ancient tradition of travel as a path to knowledge and opportunity, citing the age‑old saying Charaiveti — “keep moving forward.”

Speaking at the Iconic Tourism Summit, Shekhawat noted that India’s sages long viewed travel as a means of learning and growth. He linked this heritage to modern tourism trends, where travellers increasingly prefer experiential journeys over conventional sightseeing.

The Minister highlighted India’s remarkable transformation in infrastructure over the past 12 years — from roads and airports to railways, shipping, and communication — making seamless travel more accessible.

He also pointed to India’s record 7.5% growth in Q1 of the financial year, achieved despite global supply chain disruptions, energy crises, and political turbulence. Shekhawat cautioned about the impact of Artificial Intelligence and quantum computing on services and technology but stressed that India continues to thrive in manufacturing, services, and exports.

By blending ancient wisdom with modern progress, Shekhawat positioned India as a nation where tourism, culture, and economic growth converge.
