CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled the products at Meta Connect, the company’s annual developer conference. The new VR glasses are slimmer and lighter than Meta’s previous Quest-branded headsets and are scheduled to go on sale in spring 2027.
The glasses are powered by an external device, or puck, that contains a Qualcomm processor and battery. Moving these components outside the glasses helps reduce their weight and size while allowing the device to function as a compact computer.
Meta says the glasses offer improved visuals compared with its older Quest hardware. They also include sensors capable of tracking eye and hand movements, allowing users to interact with the virtual environment with less reliance on traditional controllers.
The company is also preparing the Muse Charm, a small handheld device designed to work with Meta’s Muse AI personal agent. Users will be able to speak to the device to interact with their AI agent without unlocking a smartphone or opening an application.
Meta has not yet announced the price of the Muse Charm. Zuckerberg said the company is still finalising its components and plans to make the device available in time for the holiday season in December.
The launches highlight Meta’s continued investment in virtual reality while expanding its AI strategy. The company is positioning its hardware as a way to make interactions with AI agents more accessible without depending entirely on smartphones.
