Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hailed India’s success in conserving the Greater One‑Horned Rhinoceros, calling it one of the most remarkable wildlife recovery stories in the world.

Sharing an article by Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, Modi said India is now among the most important global custodians of the species, with rhino populations showing sustained growth thanks to government efforts and community participation.

The Prime Minister emphasised that protecting the grasslands and wetlands that sustain rhinos is central to their future survival. He urged citizens to embrace conservation as a collective responsibility, ensuring that India’s biodiversity continues to thrive.

India’s rhino conservation journey has become a global example of how policy, protection, and people’s participation can revive endangered species and safeguard ecological heritage.
