India’s men’s badminton team signed off with a bronze medal at the Asian Games 2026, going down 1‑3 to China in the semifinals.

While Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty delivered a spirited win against China’s Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang, teammates Lakshya Sen and Ayush Shetty faltered against higher‑ranked opponents, ending India’s campaign with a podium finish.

India had clinched silver in the last edition at Hangzhou in 2023, also losing to China in the final. This time, the Chinese team once again proved too strong, denying India a shot at gold.

The bronze adds to India’s growing medal tally in Nagoya, alongside achievements in skeet shooting, weightlifting, and soft tennis. Star lifter Mirabai Chanu won silver in the women’s 49kg event, while Jay Meena made history by securing India’s first‑ever soft tennis medal with a bronze.

Despite the setback, India’s men’s badminton team showcased resilience, keeping alive hopes of future triumphs against Asia’s badminton powerhouse.
