In a major boost to India–Kenya maritime cooperation, frontline guided‑missile frigate INS Tarkash has arrived at Mombasa Port for an operational turnaround that will continue until October 2.
The port call underscores India’s commitment to deepening defence and security ties in the Western Indian Ocean. The visit will feature professional exchanges, crew interactions, and community outreach programmes, reflecting the growing partnership between the two nations.
On Thursday, INS Tarkash will be open to visitors, offering locals a rare glimpse into one of India’s most advanced naval platforms. Before departure, the ship is scheduled to conduct a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Kenya Navy, enhancing interoperability and operational synergy.
The Indian High Commission in Nairobi highlighted the visit as part of India’s MAHASAGAR vision, which focuses on building strong maritime partnerships across the Indian Ocean region. The deployment not only strengthens bilateral defence cooperation but also reinforces India’s role as a reliable security partner in East Africa.
