The reveal of the Grand Theft Auto 6 soundtrack has sparked a fresh discussion among fans about Rockstar Games’ decision not to release the highly anticipated game on disc.

Rockstar has announced a 34-track soundtrack compilation that will be released on CD and vinyl alongside the game. The collection will feature music from artists including Travis Scott, Morgan Wallen and PinkPantheress, while the first batch of tracks also includes Yung Lean, Fred again.. and Keith Richards.

The physical release of the soundtrack has prompted some fans to question the contrast between offering music on physical formats while the game itself is expected to have a digital-only release.

Music has long been central to the GTA experience, with in-game radio stations featuring different genres and artists. Rockstar has also confirmed that GTA 6 will include a dynamic score and an evolving in-game radio system.

The series has historically given artists a major boost in streaming numbers. Tracks featured in previous GTA 6 trailers have recorded significant increases in online listening following their appearances.

GTA 6 is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, and is expected to be one of the year’s biggest gaming launches.
