The Government of India has strongly refuted a fake video circulated by Pakistani propaganda accounts, which falsely claimed to show India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Parvathaneni Harish.

The video alleged that Ambassador Harish, during a UN Security Council meeting on Afghanistan, stated that Amnesty International had analysed 2,596 Indian shipments to Israel since October 2023.

India’s Press Information Bureau (PIB) fact‑check unit has categorically dismissed the claim, clarifying that the video is AI‑generated and that Ambassador Harish never made such a statement.

Officials emphasized that the video is part of a disinformation campaign aimed at misleading the public and maligning India’s image internationally. The government reiterated its commitment to countering fake narratives and urged citizens to rely only on verified sources for information.

This incident highlights the growing challenge of AI‑generated misinformation in global diplomacy, underscoring the importance of fact‑checking mechanisms in safeguarding India’s credibility on international platforms.
