Ed Sheeran’s ongoing tour has come under renewed scrutiny after rapper Macklemore was dropped as a support act following a public pro-Palestinian protest.

Sheeran has said he is “appalled” by the conflict between Israel and Palestine but does not want his concerts to become political forums. He has also stated that he was not responsible for Macklemore’s removal from the tour.

Damien Given, who is due to attend Sheeran’s Philadelphia concert, said he remains conflicted but is leaning towards attending because of his personal connection to Sheeran’s music.

Another fan, Patti Ann, said she supports Sheeran’s position and believes concerts should remain separate from political debates.

The controversy has also prompted discussion about ticket demand and the future of several remaining US shows.
