A day before the first INDIA bloc meeting following the recent poll expose, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) convened in Delhi to set its agenda.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, joined by Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and KC Venugopal, accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of withholding critical information related to electoral rolls and the poll process. He alleged that the revelations point to a deeper crisis in India’s democratic framework.
Stepping up its attack on the ruling BJP, the CWC demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, holding them accountable for what it termed a betrayal of public trust.
Party leaders emphasized that the expose has raised serious questions about the credibility of elections, and the INDIA bloc meeting will focus on strategies to safeguard democracy, transparency, and electoral integrity.
The huddle reflects Congress’s intent to rally opposition forces and set the tone for a larger political confrontation, as the party positions itself as the defender of constitutional values.
