The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the Congress Party and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing them of pursuing politics aimed at dividing Hindu society along regional, linguistic, caste, and gender lines.
The remarks came after Reddy’s controversial statement suggesting that North Indians worship Lord Rama, while South Indians are devotees of Lord Shiva. BJP leaders claimed the comment was deliberately designed to sow discord within Hindu communities and accused Congress of attempting to weaken cultural unity for political gain.
“This is nothing but an attempt to divide Hindus for Muslim rule,” BJP leaders alleged, framing the issue as part of a larger pattern of Congress’s divisive politics. The party argued that such rhetoric undermines national unity and disrespects India’s diverse traditions.
The controversy has added fuel to the ongoing political battle between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress, with both sides intensifying their narratives ahead of upcoming electoral campaigns.
