The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has clarified its political stance, with senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh announcing that the party is not part of the INDIA bloc and will therefore not attend the meeting convened to discuss issues concerning the Election Commission of India (ECI).
“There is no question of joining the meeting. Aam Aadmi Party is not part of the INDIA bloc,” Singh told reporters, firmly distancing AAP from the opposition alliance.
Despite skipping the meeting, Singh emphasized that AAP continues to oppose the Election Commission’s functioning. He highlighted the party’s support for the impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, accusing the poll body of serious shortcomings. “We are fighting against the failures of the Election Commission — from the streets to Parliament,” Singh added.
The announcement underscores AAP’s independent positioning in national politics, even as opposition parties under the INDIA bloc intensify their protests against alleged electoral irregularities. Singh’s remarks suggest that while AAP shares concerns about the ECI, it prefers to pursue its own course rather than align formally with the bloc.
