India’s long wait for a shooting gold at the Asian Games 2026 finally ended as Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet clinched the top spot in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, setting a new Asian and Games record.
The duo, who had delivered modest performances in their individual events, combined brilliantly to total 484.6 points in the final. Suruchi was in exceptional form, keeping India ahead from the qualifying rounds through to the final, while Kamaljeet’s consistency ensured the team’s dominance.
Their victory marked a breakthrough moment for India at the Aichi General Shooting Range, where medal hopes had been faltering. The gold medal not only boosted India’s shooting campaign but also showcased the strength of teamwork in overcoming earlier disappointments.
Adding to the medal tally, the men’s 50m 3‑position team of Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Niraj Kumar, and Rudrankksh Patil secured a silver medal, further underlining India’s depth in shooting disciplines.
