Actor Alia Bhatt has opened up about her relationship with husband and actor Ranbir Kapoor, describing their bond as one that has always been rooted in friendship.
Speaking on Two Much, hosted by Kajol and Twinkle Khanna, Bhatt said their relationship was never based on an idealised or “rose-tinted” idea of romance. Instead, she described the two as having the kind of equation associated with close friends.
Bhatt said she married Kapoor because she considers him a wonderful person and values him as a human being. She also highlighted the playful side of their relationship, saying that they frequently tease and “troll” each other.
According to Bhatt, their equation changed after they became parents. She described this shift as a natural development in the relationship between two people as their lives and responsibilities evolve.
Rather than presenting the change as a dramatic transformation, her comments suggest that becoming parents added another dimension to an already established friendship and partnership.
Bhatt and Kapoor welcomed their daughter, Raha, in 2022. Since then, both actors have occasionally spoken publicly about balancing family life with their professional commitments.
For Bhatt, however, the friendship at the centre of her relationship with Kapoor remains an important part of their bond.
