India opener Abhishek Sharma has reclaimed the world No. 1 position in the ICC men's T20 International batting rankings following his outstanding century against New Zealand in Wellington.
The left-handed batter moved to the top of the rankings on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, after scoring 113 runs off just 38 balls in the third T20I on Tuesday. His explosive innings helped India secure a six-wicket victory and earned him 897 rating points.
The century was Abhishek's fourth in T20 internationals, further strengthening his reputation as one of India's most aggressive batters in the shortest format.
His rise to the top pushed fellow Indian batter Ishan Kishan down the rankings. Kishan, who missed the second and third matches of the five-game series because of an injury, slipped to third place.
Pakistan T20I captain Sahibzada Farhan moved into second position in the updated rankings.
Abhishek's performance in Wellington proved decisive in the rankings reshuffle. His ability to score quickly while maintaining a major impact on the match has made him a key figure in India's T20I setup.
The achievement is another milestone in his international career and comes as India continues its series against New Zealand. With further matches ahead, Abhishek will have an opportunity to build on his form and maintain his position among the world's leading T20I batters.
