Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming action film King has attracted attention after the actor unveiled a new poster on Tuesday, October 27. While some fans praised his rugged appearance, the poster also sparked debate on social media, with several viewers comparing its look to Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge, also known as Dhurandhar 2. Some users also questioned whether the poster appeared to be AI-generated.
In the poster, Shah Rukh sports grey hair, a beard and a distressed leather jacket over an unbuttoned shirt. He is shown walking with a gun in one hand and a red rose between his teeth, against a backdrop that appears to feature a burning aircraft.
Sharing the poster, the actor wrote, “Aaj phir yaad aaya... Qaatil nahi… Aashiq hoon…” The line recalls the opening lyrics of the title track from his 1990 film Baadshah.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, who previously collaborated with Shah Rukh on Pathaan, King is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 24, 2026. The film also marks the first on-screen collaboration between Shah Rukh and his daughter, Suhana Khan.
The project is among the actor’s most anticipated upcoming releases. Shah Rukh last appeared in theatres in 2023, when he starred in Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki.
The mixed reaction to the poster highlights how closely audiences scrutinise the visual style of major film releases. While some viewers welcomed Shah Rukh’s intense new look, comparisons with another action franchise have added to the online discussion surrounding King.
