US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will host the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Atlanta on October 30–31, 2026, as Washington prepares for the G20 Leaders’ Summit scheduled for December.
The meeting will bring foreign ministers together to discuss practical cooperation on shared economic and security challenges. It is also expected to help prepare the ground for the leaders’ gathering later this year, which US President Donald Trump is scheduled to host in Miami on December 14–15.
India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is scheduled to attend the two-day meeting in Atlanta, highlighting India’s participation in discussions among major economies on international cooperation and global priorities.
The foreign ministers’ meeting comes ahead of the leaders’ summit, providing an opportunity for participating countries to exchange views on common challenges and explore areas where coordinated action may be possible.
Economic cooperation and security issues are expected to form part of the broader discussions, according to the announcement. Such meetings allow governments to raise shared concerns, discuss policy priorities and prepare issues for consideration by national leaders.
The United States, as host of this year’s G20 gatherings, will oversee the ministerial meeting before the December summit in Miami. The leaders’ summit will bring together representatives of the world’s major economies for discussions on international economic and political issues.
Jaishankar’s planned participation will also place India among the countries engaging in the preparatory discussions ahead of the leaders’ meeting.
The Atlanta gathering is scheduled for October 30 and 31, while the G20 Leaders’ Summit is planned for December 14 and 15 in Miami. Further details on the agenda and outcomes will depend on official announcements from the participating governments.
