North Korea has issued a sharp warning to the United States over its military support and arms sales to Taiwan, accusing Washington of escalating tensions in the Taiwan Strait.
According to state media KCNA, a commentary by North Korean analyst Kim Myong Chol condemned the recent appearance of U.S.-supplied fighter aircraft in Taiwan, claiming such actions undermine peace and stability in the region. The statement framed U.S. policy as provocative and destabilizing, aligning Pyongyang’s stance with Beijing’s opposition to American involvement in Taiwan.
At the same time, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un pledged continued support for Russia’s war effort, sending a birthday message to President Vladimir Putin that reaffirmed Pyongyang’s solidarity with Moscow. The dual message highlights North Korea’s strategy of backing Russia while confronting U.S. influence in Asia.
Analysts say the warning reflects Pyongyang’s broader geopolitical positioning — strengthening ties with Russia and China while directly challenging U.S. alliances in East Asia. The move also underscores how Taiwan has become a flashpoint in global power struggles, with North Korea now inserting itself into the debate.
