The Tripura government has allocated ₹1,178 crore to upgrade infrastructure at 213 schools across the state, Chief Minister Manik Saha said recently. The initiative is aimed at improving educational facilities and expanding access to modern learning opportunities, particularly in underprivileged areas.
Speaking at an event marking the birth anniversary of educationist and social reformer Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Saha said improvements in school infrastructure, corrective measures and the use of technology had contributed to reducing the quality gap between urban and rural education in Tripura.
The Chief Minister said the government was using modern technology to extend educational opportunities to underserved regions. He also reiterated the administration’s focus on providing value-based education and urged teachers to play a greater role in developing schools as centres for nurturing students’ talent.
The infrastructure investment comes alongside broader efforts to strengthen the state’s education system. The government has also discussed phased deployment of teachers and support staff across schools, according to reports.
Tripura’s 2026-27 budget has separately provided significant funding for education and includes plans for new educational institutions, including the Tripura Government Technical University, Tripura Government Women’s University and Tripura University of Health Sciences.
The latest school infrastructure allocation highlights the state government’s focus on combining physical upgrades with technology-enabled education, particularly in regions where access to quality educational facilities remains a challenge.
