The service, launched on September 30, 2026, allows compatible users to add their eligible credit cards to Apple Wallet and make payments using supported Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.

Customers can add their cards through the Axis Bank app or directly through the Wallet app on their iPhone. Apple has also confirmed that Mac support is coming soon.

Apple Pay uses device-based security features to protect payment information. According to Apple, customers’ card numbers are not stored on their devices or on Apple’s servers.

The India launch expands Apple’s payment ecosystem into one of the world’s largest digital payments markets. Initially, however, availability is limited to eligible cards issued by Axis Bank, meaning users with cards from other banks may need to wait for additional support.

Apple Pay is designed to allow users to make contactless payments at participating merchants using supported Apple devices. The service integrates with Apple Wallet, giving customers a way to keep eligible payment cards digitally accessible on their devices.

The company’s India launch comes as digital and contactless payments continue to expand across the country, while Apple gradually broadens the financial services available to its customers.
