Venu Srinivasan has reportedly sought an inquiry into the administration and governance of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and Sir Ratan Tata Trust, adding another development to the ongoing governance dispute surrounding Tata Trusts and Tata Sons.
Srinivasan, who is a trustee of both trusts and vice-chairman of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, has questioned several appointments and governance decisions, according to reports citing his communication to the Maharashtra Charity Commissioner.
Among the issues raised is Noel Tata’s status as a perpetual trustee and the basis of his appointment as chairman of Tata Trusts. Srinivasan has also objected to the appointment of Noel Tata’s son, Neville Tata, as a trustee and raised concerns about his own exclusion from certain decision-making processes.
The complaint also reportedly questions the involvement of Tata Trusts and its trustees in strategic and commercial matters concerning Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group.
Noel Tata became chairman of Tata Trusts in October 2024 following Ratan Tata’s death, with trustees approving his appointment unanimously at the time. Neville Tata was later inducted as a trustee of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust for a three-year term in November 2025.
The latest development comes amid wider disagreements over Tata Sons’ leadership, governance and its potential listing.
