US-based private equity firm Advent International will invest $328.53 million in Yatharth Hospital for a 24.9% stake in the Indian healthcare company, according to an announcement on Thursday.
Following news of the transaction, shares of Yatharth Healthcare and its Services rose as much as 8.6% to a record high of ₹1,067.
The investment comes amid increasing private equity interest in India’s healthcare sector. Recent deals have included KKR’s agreement to acquire Swedish healthcare provider Medicover’s India business for $1.4 billion, while Blackstone acquired a controlling stake in CARE Hospitals in 2023.
Founded in 2008, Yatharth Hospitals primarily operates in northern India. The company currently runs nine multi-speciality hospitals with around 2,800 operational beds and has plans to expand capacity to approximately 3,250 beds.
Despite Advent’s investment, the founding Tyagi family will continue to be Yatharth Hospital’s largest shareholder, according to the company’s statement.
The transaction highlights continued investor interest in India’s expanding healthcare infrastructure, particularly in hospital networks seeking to increase capacity and expand their presence across regional markets.
The deal will give Advent a significant minority position in Yatharth while allowing the founding family to retain its position as the hospital operator’s largest shareholder.
