Windows 11 26H2 has reached general availability, but Microsoft has listed three known issues that some users and organisations may encounter after installing the update. The rollout is being phased across eligible Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2 devices.
One issue affects certain USB Audio Class 1.0 devices. After installing Windows 11 26H2, some devices may fail to start, produce no sound or show a Code 10 error in Device Manager. Microsoft says the issue is limited to USB Audio Class 1.0 hardware and is being addressed through future updates.
Another issue affects some domain-joined devices using Credential Guard. Certain machine accounts can lose their secure connection with an on-premises Active Directory domain, potentially preventing users from signing in with valid domain credentials.
The third issue involves black screens or desktop-loading problems after sign-in. Microsoft says this has primarily been reported on Azure Virtual Desktop environments using FSLogix. Affected users may need to manually launch Windows Explorer, while enterprise administrators can use Microsoft's Known Issue Rollback.
Importantly, these problems are not exclusive to Windows 11 26H2. Microsoft lists the same issues across earlier Windows 11 versions, including 24H2 and 25H2. Microsoft currently marks all three 26H2 issues as “Mitigated”, while work continues on longer-term fixes.
