Samsung’s upcoming smart glasses have taken another step toward launch after two models appeared in US Federal Communications Commission filings. The devices are listed under model numbers SM-O200J and SM-O200P and are described as “Extended Reality Glasses.”
The regulatory filings add to Samsung’s preparations for its first Android XR smart glasses, which the company has confirmed are planned for 2026. Samsung and Google previously showcased the eyewear in partnership with fashion and eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.
Samsung’s upcoming glasses are designed to work closely with smartphones and the Galaxy ecosystem. The company has described features including voice-based assistance, navigation, notifications, real-time translation and hands-free access to AI-powered services.
The first-generation glasses are expected to focus on an audio-based experience rather than offering a built-in visual display. Samsung and Google have previously indicated that display-equipped versions are part of their longer-term Android XR plans.
The two FCC model numbers could represent different versions of the glasses, although Samsung has not publicly detailed how the models differ. Earlier reports have suggested that the company could offer variations in design or hardware, but those details remain unconfirmed.
Samsung has also highlighted privacy measures for the glasses, including a camera privacy light designed to indicate when the camera is active.
The FCC appearance does not itself confirm a launch date, price or final specifications. However, it indicates that Samsung’s Android XR glasses project is moving closer to commercial availability.
