Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasised that water security is a shared responsibility, achievable only through stronger systems, scientific innovation, and active Jan Bhagidari (people’s participation).

Sharing an article written by Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil, the Prime Minister praised India’s efforts in building climate‑resilient water management through flagship programmes like the Jal Jeevan Mission, Namami Gange, and technology‑driven conservation initiatives.

Mr Modi noted that the article provides an insightful perspective on how community involvement, combined with sustained efforts across States and local bodies, can secure water for future generations. He underlined that collective participation is vital to ensure long‑term sustainability in water governance.

The Prime Minister’s remarks come at a time when India is intensifying its focus on climate resilience, water reuse, and conservation technologies, reinforcing the idea that citizen engagement is as crucial as government action in tackling water challenges.

By stressing Jan Bhagidari, Mr Modi has positioned water security not just as a policy goal but as a national movement, urging citizens to play an active role in safeguarding resources for a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
