The Supreme Court of India on Monday directed the Uttar Pradesh government to submit a copy of the chargesheet in the Ram Temple donations misappropriation case by September 25, 2026.

A Bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant observed that while it did not wish to intervene in the jurisdiction of the Sessions Court, the apex court required transparency in the matter. The court noted from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) status report that 105 instances of unauthorised currency removal were captured on CCTV cameras at the temple premises.

Appearing for the Uttar Pradesh government, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the court that the investigation had been “substantially concluded” and the chargesheet would be filed before the jurisdictional Additional Sessions Judge. The SIT report also confirmed that the role of each person allegedly involved in the misappropriation had been assessed.

The case, which has drawn widespread public attention, revolves around allegations of theft and misuse of donations meant for the Ram Temple Trust. The upcoming chargesheet is expected to shed light on accountability and ensure legal action against those responsible.
