Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has reaffirmed that India will remain a key driver of global energy demand in the coming decades.

Speaking at the Seventh OPEC‑India High‑Level Energy Dialogue, co‑chaired with OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais, Mr Puri highlighted India’s crucial role in shaping global energy markets. Discussions focused on oil market stability, energy security, and the importance of timely investment across the oil industry.

Mr Puri stressed that India and OPEC share a mutually beneficial relationship, built on trust and cooperation. He underlined the need for sustained dialogue between producers and consumers to support investment, strengthen resilience, and ensure reliable energy supplies for global growth.

The Minister called for advancing a balanced, stable, and predictable energy market, promoting transparency and long‑term sustainability.

OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais praised India’s balanced and pragmatic approach to energy challenges, noting that India’s priorities align closely with OPEC’s. He emphasized that India’s importance in the global energy landscape will only grow in the decades ahead.

The OPEC‑India Energy Dialogue, launched in 2015, has now completed eleven years, serving as a vital platform for cooperation and shared vision in the energy sector.
