India’s Ambassador to Russia, Vinay Kumar, met with Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin in Moscow to discuss a wide range of issues, including bilateral relations, international developments, and the ongoing Ukraine conflict.
According to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, Kumar was briefed on Moscow’s assessment of the current situation in Ukraine. The talks also focused on strengthening cooperation under the special and privileged strategic partnership that India and Russia share.
The meeting comes shortly after External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening ties across trade, defence, energy, and multilateral platforms.
Diplomatic observers note that India continues to balance its global partnerships while maintaining close engagement with Russia, particularly on sensitive issues like Ukraine. The dialogue underscores New Delhi’s emphasis on strategic autonomy, ensuring that its foreign policy remains independent while addressing global challenges.
