India celebrated a golden day at the Asian Games 2026 as the women’s 4x400m relay team and shooter Neeru Dhanda delivered historic victories.
The quartet of Kiran Pahal, M.R. Poovamma, Prachi Singh, and Vithya Ramraj produced a sensational run to clinch the gold medal in the women’s 4x400m relay, reaffirming India’s dominance in athletics. Their performance was hailed as one of the standout moments of the Games.
Earlier, India’s sprinters Gurindervir Singh, Animesh Kujur, Sneha Sathyanarayana, and Harita Bhadra secured a bronze medal in the 4x100m mixed relay, clocking a season‑best time of 41.06 seconds.
In shooting, Neeru Dhanda etched her name in history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an Asian Games gold in trap shooting. The 26‑year‑old from Haryana smashed the continental record with a score of 28, surpassing the previous mark of 24. Dhanda had earlier helped India secure silver in the women’s trap team event alongside Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer, finishing behind China.
These victories highlight India’s growing strength across athletics and shooting, inspiring confidence ahead of the remaining events.
