Former Indian Navy sailor Mayank Sachan has secured All India Rank (AIR) 343 in UPSC CAPF 2025, after a long journey marked by repeated competitive-exam setbacks.
According to his account reported by Times of India and other outlets, Sachan, a Kanpur resident, failed more than 15 competitive examinations, two SSB attempts and the CAPF written examination twice before succeeding on his third attempt.
Sachan studied Classes 10 and 12 at a government school and later joined the Indian Navy as a sailor, where he served for 15 years. Alongside his naval responsibilities, he continued his education and completed graduation and postgraduate studies in Public Administration through IGNOU.
His attempts at the armed forces also included two unsuccessful SSB appearances, while his UPSC Civil Services preliminary attempt did not result in qualification. He eventually returned to the CAPF examination for a third attempt and secured AIR 343.
Sachan has credited his Navy experience with helping him develop discipline, composure and the ability to handle setbacks. His journey highlights the years of preparation behind his eventual CAPF result.
