Fahadh Faasil is stepping into Telugu cinema as a solo lead with Don’t Trouble the Trouble, a film that pushed the actor into unfamiliar territory both linguistically and technically.
Playing Suri, a street magician, Fahadh had to deliver every dialogue in Telugu despite having worked predominantly in Malayalam throughout his career. He revealed that he followed a three-step mental process for each line: thinking in Malayalam, converting the thought into English and then performing it in Telugu.
The process continued throughout the film’s lengthy production, which involved shooting across 79 real locations in Hyderabad over nearly 18 months.
Fahadh also brought the sync-sound discipline associated with Malayalam cinema to the Telugu production. He avoided prompting on set and insisted on dubbing his own lines, making the language challenge an important part of his preparation.
The actor described Don’t Trouble the Trouble as a “kids’ film for grown-ups”, suggesting that its appeal extends beyond a younger audience.
For Fahadh, the project also reinforced his belief in the importance of writing. While actors bring characters to life, he believes strong writing remains central to creating a memorable film.
With its unusual production process and Fahadh taking on a Telugu-speaking lead role, Don’t Trouble the Trouble marks another language and genre shift in the actor’s career.
