Domestic LPG consumers seeking refills at the regulated retail price with applicable subsidy will need to complete Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (BAA) from October 1, 2026.

The government said the requirement is aimed at ensuring that subsidised LPG benefits reach genuine and eligible households.

According to data released by the Press Information Bureau, 27.43 crore active domestic LPG consumers, representing around 89.9% of the total customer base, had already completed biometric Aadhaar authentication as of September 19.

Consumers who have already completed the authentication process will not need to take any additional action. They can continue booking their LPG refills as usual.

For consumers who have not yet completed the process, Aadhaar authentication will become an important requirement for accessing subsidised refills at the regulated price from October 1.

The move comes as the government continues efforts to strengthen the verification of beneficiaries under the subsidised LPG system and ensure that benefits are directed to eligible households.

Consumers who are unsure about their authentication status should check with their LPG distributor or the relevant official LPG service before their next refill booking.
