The Indian stock market is going through a period of continued correction, prompting investors to reassess sectors that may have relatively stronger earnings visibility. Market expert Mayuresh Joshi, Head of Equity Research at William O’Neil India, has highlighted specialty chemicals, auto ancillaries and select private sector banks as areas being monitored amid the weakness.

According to Joshi, these sectors could offer structural earnings opportunities if their underlying business performance remains resilient. His comments come as investors assess where earnings may hold up better during a period of market volatility.

Specialty chemicals remain on the radar because of their longer-term growth potential and evolving global supply chains. The sector has previously attracted attention as companies diversify manufacturing and sourcing beyond China.

Auto ancillaries are another area being watched, particularly because component manufacturers can benefit from domestic demand as well as global opportunities. The sector's performance, however, remains dependent on vehicle production, exports and input costs.

The third area is select private sector banks, where investors are focusing on credit growth, asset quality and earnings resilience.

Market corrections can also change valuations across sectors. However, whether a decline creates an attractive entry point depends on individual companies, earnings expectations, valuations and broader economic conditions.

Joshi's comments therefore point to sectors for investors to monitor rather than a blanket recommendation to buy during the current correction.
