The Puranic has launched a new digital series on the Bhagavad Gita, using YouTube and Instagram to explore the text's traditional narrative, philosophical themes and broader Mahabharata context.
The series is designed to move beyond isolated quotations and simplified interpretations, introducing viewers to the events and ideas surrounding the Gita in a sequential format. The Bhagavad Gita is traditionally presented as a dialogue between Krishna and Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra and forms part of the Mahabharata.
Episode 1 introduces the narrative framework through Dhritarashtra and Sanjaya. According to the traditional account, Vyasa grants Sanjaya divine sight, enabling him to perceive and describe events taking place on the battlefield to the blind king.
Episode 2 moves the story to Kurukshetra, introducing the armies of the Pandavas and Kauravas and bringing the narrative closer to Krishna and Arjuna's chariot.
Episode 3 steps back to explore the history of the Kuru dynasty and the relationship between the Pandavas and Kauravas. It introduces figures including Dhritarashtra, Pandu, Bhishma, Dronacharya, Duryodhana, Vidura and Krishna, establishing the family and political tensions that lead to the war.
Through these opening episodes, The Puranic is building the narrative context before reaching the central philosophical dialogue between Krishna and Arjuna.
The series is available through The Puranic's YouTube and Instagram platforms, with subsequent episodes expected to continue the story and explore the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita.
